The University of Tennessee Knoxville invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track lecturer position in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in the field of Chinese Religions or Japanese Religions for academic year 2005-06.  Required: 1) Ph.D., or ABD in Religious Studies by August 2005; 2) Evidence of good teaching, and 3)the ability to teach  Chinese or Japanese Religions at the junior and senior undergraduate level, including Chinese Religion and Philosophy (exclusive of Buddhism), Japanese Religion and Society, Zen Buddhism (may choose to emphasize one or more among Chan in China, Zen in Japan, Son in Korea, Thien in Vietnam, and Zen in the West), History of Buddhism in East Asia and America.  Courses in Daoism, Shinto, Gender in Asian Religions, would also be desirable.  Salary competitive.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
