Even though you criticize the Dalai Lama's current teaching style, it is 
obvious that it is not from personal knowledge.  He still gives 
traditional lectures on Buddhism.  The last morning or afternoon there 
might be an empowerment, then again maybe not.  You have things exactly 
backwards.
