This could have been an anecdote from my school years. I don't know why, but our teachers (primary school) would always make a reference to our father's profession, give us nicknames (flower pot, steack etc) linked to it etc. And after such a rebuking the other pupils would always be satisfied and delighted in the teacher's words.
