[Buddha-l] the true authority on meanings

In Hind (apparently unlike in Skt.), pujaa is a nm. 
Pujaari (priest) is also a nm despite its ending vowel. 
In Bengali it's the same. 
Thus, the final vowel in Bengali pronunciation becomes a sort of 'o' sound. 
Hence, Duurgaa Pujo (use of capital letters is Eng.)

Speaking of creative spelling, did any of you see the article in today's NY
Times on the Durga Pujo? (Somehow New York Sanskrit "puujaa" has become a
masculine noun pronounced with a Bengali accent.)
