[Buddha-l] lotus sutra question

Hi Richard. Question for Richard, kibitzers all welcome. I'm wondering about some of the comments you've made about Lotus Sutra on Buddha-L over the years. I always seem to hear just the one-liner versions, but I'm supposing there are messages in the archive that fill out your complaint? Or maybe you can direct me somewhere else if that is not the right tree up which to bark. I like pt. 12, the bit about Devadatta going to heaven someday. I like the idea that everyone goes to heaven, even nasty schismatics, even if some people take the looooong way, and I kind of draw strength from the story. But one shouldn't build a house on sand, less liquifaction cause the earth to swallow it up during the next earthquake.

Any leads for me? Or maybe I need to figure out how to search the Buddha-L archive, in which perhaps I'm not doing my homework and must beg pardon--I'll get to heaven eventually, but not for a while if I continue to disobey Buddha-L rules!

Cheers, JWB
