 So the suppression is caused by Chinese arrogance, which is
caused by the events of the late 19th and early 20th century
(especially the Japanese occupation), but it will wear off
because politics will be determined by economics and
environmental problems.

Not as long as economics is managed world-wide by a few
globalists, and the so-called developing countries continue to
live in denial or project the command of "you first" to the
economically developed  countries, as they are doing today at the
G8 meeting, and did before that. Yet ironically, because their
infrastructures are not as deeply and rigidly established as in
the developed countries, they have a better chance of more
rapidly doing something about global warming, environments, etc.
As for Buddhism, the Buddhists of Asia are too poor to
participate in any of this, except for a few rich outfits that
don't care to rock any boats.
