That's not "damage control" - that's just very basic common sense. I 
suppose some people might be disappointed that what Osel himself 
actually says doesn't live up to their lurid fantasies.

Notice how the original "news" items contained mere snippets of quotes 
supposedly from Osel, without providing any context - one of them 
actually leads with a quote from ... Life of Brian 
(http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1903076,00.html).
