Desmond Tutu has invited the Dalai Lama to give a speech at Tutu's 80th 
birthday party. The South African govt. is still deciding whether to grant 
him a visa -- they don't want to upset their "largest trading partner," 
China.

"The issue underscores China's growing clout in Africa, where it has 
invested billions of dollars in its bid to access minerals and energy for 
its giant manufacturing sector."
