[Buddha-l] Canonical satire, parody and whimsy

The claim was made a while back that the compilers of the Pali canon included 
some satirical pieces. Someone requested that I provide some examples. I've 
dug up a very old (1991 or so) post to buddha-l (back when it was still 
hosted in Japan!) and formatted it for your reading pleasure (or displeasure, 
if you prefer to see the Buddha as a grumpy old fart). The result can be seen
