While we're on the topic of monks with cellphones, last year I was in 
Australia for my research, observing a meeting between some Australian 
Buddhists and their visiting lama (with his monk attendant, a kiwi). 
They were meeting outside, at a construction site. The lama had a 
distinctive high- pitched giggle (it had a hysterical edge and was very 
infectious), and he laughed often as they discussed the business.

Then I heard the same giggle eerily issuing forth from another direction.
I soon realised it was coming from his attendant's backpack. The monk 
took off his backpack and took out his phone (and the phone "giggled" 
several more times during the meeting...).
So he had his lama's laugh as his ringtone!
