Recently I was searching the net looking at different translations of 
the Surangama Sutra, as well as commentaries and other critical matter 
(including of course debates about it's "authenticity"). The Surangama 
Sutra recounts a story about Ananda's lack of enlightenment despite his 
ability to recite every word ever spoken by the Buddha. It seems like we 
have all become just like Ananda - at least those of us with access to 
the internet!!
