The problem, however, lays in not in the original Indian understanding of 
the term, but in the Western reception of the term "enlightenment". 
Buddhologists do not direct their writings to ancient Indians, their 
reading public are people for whom "enlightenment", quite intuitively, is a 
one-way exchange between the giver and the receiver of light.
