Thank you, Stuart, for that detailed, informative summary of the Shimano-et
al. scandal.

One conclusion is that while Shimano was one of the more egregious
offenders, the whole institutional system and the leading figures within
it -- including other celebrities like Maezumi Roshi (who was always kind to
me) -- shared mightily in the guilt, either because they were doing the same
thing themselves, or by perpetuating the cover-up (Unfortunately Aiken has
decades of complicity as well -- his conscience never troubled him enough to
bring the matter to an end, perhaps out of respect for his teachers or
simply to safeguard his own position and authority within the "lineage" --
everyone can judge that on their own.)

>He calls
> Shimano "a crook" and says his actions are the "product of a criminal
> mind."

New slogan: Zen mind is criminal mind !

Should play well with the romanticize-tyrants-and-hoodlums crowd.
