"Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a man, and on the right side each had the ! face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle. Such were their faces."

Hi,

The face of a man, lion, ox (bull) and eagle could be referring to a sphinx - which is often depicted with wings.

"The symbolical tetrad, represented in the Mysteries of Memphis and Thebes by the four aspects of the sphinx - a man, eagle, lion and bull - corresponded with the four elements of the old world, [ie. water, air, fire and earth]...." The Tarot by Mouni Sadhu pg 11

Regards
Kate
