Departmental Lecturership in Tibetan and Himalayan Studies Salary
Grade 7, £27,466 - £33,780 per annum

Applications are invited for a teaching position in Tibetan and
Himalayan Studies. This fixed-term post is to commence on 1
October 2008 until 30 June 2009 (and may be extended to 30
September 2009 should additional funding be obtained). The
principal duties of the post are to give lectures and classes in
Tibetan and Himalayan civilisation during the absence on research
leave of Dr Charles Ramble in the academic year 2008-09, to
examine, and to conduct research. Candidates should have a
primary field of expertise in the teaching of Tibetan and
Himalayan Studies; hold, or be working towards, a doctorate in an
appropriate field; be able to provide evidence of published, or
soon to be published, research; and be able to demonstrate that
they can to teach to graduate level both colloquial and literary
Tibetan (modern and classical), as well as themes in Tibetan and
Himalayan history and civilisation.
