In addition to Artur's suggestion for the Moyar piece, keep in mind that the 
govt. (Diem, Ky, etc.) were North Vietnamese Catholics who were issuing laws 
and constraints against Buddhists, Buddhist holidays, etc. South Vietnam was 
anything but a "Buddhist" state.
