A new opera attempting to combine Wagner's interest in Buddhism with
Buddhism, so that the Wagner impersonator speaks in German, the Buddha and
Buddhist texts to be sung in Pali. Gombrich did the Pali translating.

 "An opera written by composer Jonathan Harvey about Richard Wagner is to be
partly performed in Pali, the 2,000-year-old language spoken by Buddha. (As
I understand, Buddha's spoken language was definitely not Pali. With
Gombrich around, why can't BBC get it right? Arg]
Welsh National Opera (WNO) director David Pountney said the ancient Asian
language was the most appropriate for the production, titled Wagner
Dream.............
Wagner Dream will be staged at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, on 6-7
June, with a performance in Birmingham on 12 June."

"In the show, a dying Wagner reflects on his own unfinished Buddhist opera."
I wonder if they had any music mss notes to work with.
